There’s always a step one.

The things that make you special, and qualified, are the unique events that have lead you to where you are.

The things that make you special, and qualified, are the unique events that have lead you to where you are.

“There’s always a step one, and you’ll look back at it and say “wow, that’s where I started?”

My life coach mentor told me that the first time I spoke with him.  This was before I started a crazy 30-day challenge to start a company. I was nervous and anxious about doing daily videos, and sharing my experiences with people. The thought that kept creeping into my mind was “How are you qualified? What makes you think you can help other people? What experience do you have?” Those are some pretty cutting questions when you pose them to your passions and dreams. My life coach mentor said, “The things that make you special, and qualified, are the unique events that have lead you to where you are.” Only YOU have lead the life you’ve lived, experienced what you’ve experienced. Your friends, family and moments are unique to YOU.  So, when you share your thoughts on a particular subject, or your vision on a specific project, realize that YOU are unique. It’s so easy to cut ourselves down and think less of ourselves. Whether we have a skewed sense of humility, or simply don’t believe in ourselves, as I’ve said multiple times the greatest gift we can give to the world is being ourselves. Your “self” is unique, and gifted, and blessed with things that other people are not.

So, whether you are setting out to start a company in 30 days, or you want to sell a service you’ve never offered, the act of greatness begins with a simple sense of belief in yourself. Write down why you’re great. Have other people write you a letter of what makes you special. And, when the road gets bumpy, or the storm set’s in, go back to those notes and say “I’m a good person, with a good heart, trying to do good things.”

You got this. Boom.

  1. Great message here Charlie! I had a moment like this earlier this week and actually wrote about it as well. It had to do with looking back on last year’s spending while doing my taxes. I realized a shift in my habits about a month before I felt the call to start writing. Great clarification now to look back and see my heart was being prepared all along!
